Era Organics Face Moisturizer Cream and CeraVe Moisturizing Cream are built in very different ways. Era’s ingredient list starts with Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice instead of water. It is a 24-in-1 formula that combines Manuka Honey, MSM, Hyaluronic Acid, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Olive Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, cocoa seed butter and oat in one lightweight, fast-absorbing cream with a matte finish. It is certified Cruelty-Free and Made in the United States. It is free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, fragrance, phenoxyethanol, mineral oil, silicones, PEGs, talc, formaldehyde, propylene glycol, drying alcohols and synthetic dyes. Era is made for all skin types, especially dry, sensitive and aging skin, and you can use it on your face, hands and body. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is from L’Oréal (L’Oréal USA, Inc.). Its list starts with AQUA / WATER / EAU and includes CERAMIDE NP, CERAMIDE AP, CERAMIDE EOP and CHOLESTEROL. Its product page shows the National Eczema Association (NEA) Seal of Acceptance and calls the formula fragrance-free.

Key differences

Aloe comes first, not water

The first ingredient in Era Organics Face Moisturizer Cream is Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, and water is not on its list at all. The first ingredient in CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is AQUA / WATER / EAU.

A 24-in-1 mix of butters, oils and botanicals

Era combines Shea Butter, cocoa seed butter, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, Carrot Seed Oil, Manuka Honey, oat flour, oat amino acids, MSM and flower extracts in one cream. Its store listing calls these “natural skin superfoods.” None of them appears on CeraVe Moisturizing Cream’s ingredient list.

Phenoxyethanol-free

Era Organics Face Moisturizer Cream is verified phenoxyethanol-free. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream’s list includes PHENOXYETHANOL. If you check labels for that ingredient, Era is the one without it.

Certified Cruelty-Free and Made in the USA

Era holds Cruelty-Free and Made in the United States certifications. CeraVe’s product page does not show cruelty-free or made in the USA.

Certifications and label claims

Recalls and lawsuits

In 2026, a federal judge in the Southern District of New York dismissed a class action against L’Oréal USA that alleged benzene in CeraVe and La Roche-Posay benzoyl peroxide acne products (L’Oréal CeraVe and La Roche-Posay benzene class action dismissed).
